Sue’s Story
I live in Plymouth with my cat Lexi and my tropical fish. My son lives in Cornwall, my grandson and my great grandchildren live in St Budeaux.
I have had quite a varied work career, including as a legal secretary and as a secretary to a senior manager in a bank. I did work at the University when it was Plymouth Polytechnic and was responsible for allocating student accommodation. I spent many happy years as PA to the Macmillan GP Facilitators and Lecturers at the Peninsula Medical School before I left and shortly after it was found I was suffering from Sjogren’s Disease, which is a rheumatic auto immune disease.
I became Regional Coordinator for the British Sjogren’s Syndrome Association (now Sjogren’s UK) and first came in contact with Wendy from Well Connected as our local Sjogren’s group worked closely with dental students, because Sjogren’s can detrimentally affect teeth through lack of saliva.
Since then I have taken part in workshops with various other groups of students as an Expert Patient and very much enjoy helping them with their learning journeys.
