Open Wide and Step Inside
Sharing key oral health messages with children and their families using a creative and interactive video and storybook.
We are proud to have been involved from its inception in 2013 to 2018, with the Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise, engaging with more than 4,000 children who have seen the film as well as providing them with an oral health ‘take home’ pack and accompanying storybook.
We wanted to do something different, use a new style and approach to share key oral health message and we were delighted that the Wrigley Company Foundation agreed to support and fund this new approach to oral health promotion for children aged 5-7 years and their families.
The result was a creative, engaging and contemporary animation, which was enhanced by a wide range of additional resources to ensure the key oral health messages were understood and remembered by the children long after they enjoyed watching the short film.
Children are introduced to Geoffrey the Giant, the main character, who we discover, eats too many sweets and doesn’t like brushing his teeth, however with the support and encouragement of his friends, he learns more about the key oral health messages, the importance of looking after his teeth and visiting a dentist on a regular basis. A specially commissioned ‘two minute’ brushing song compliments the project and which the children enjoy learning as part of the session.
“Working with Wendy and the Well Connected Team was a delight. Their insight and knowledge about engagement with children and their families ensured the final animation and resources were relevant and meaningful. We are truly proud of this project!”
