Doaa’s Story
Our first City of Smiles story, highlights sparkle itself, the incredible Doaa Shayea, embodied in her own impactful words, “A Muslim woman in wheelchair is the essence of who I am, but not all that I am”.
Living in Plymouth, and a GB parapowerlifter, public speaker and a Sociology student at the University of Plymouth. Doaa is a passionate leader in disability advocacy, devoted to breaking down barriers and reshaping how society embraces and celebrates diversity.
Doaa’s vision is to create a world where inclusivity is second nature, and every individual is seen and valued for who they are.
Doaa has been instrumental in shaping positive changes within numerous charities, organisations, and communities, including recently being a judge for the BBC Make A Difference Awards in Devon and a speaker at the Include Summit the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Summit for Sport. Doaa’s commitment extends to amplifying the voices of the marginalised, ensuring they are not only heard, but truly seen.
