Dental Ambassadors
A fun, and enjoyable approach to sharing key oral health messages with adults and young people with learning disabilities; encouraging them to learn more about their own dental wellbeing and encourage them to share with others. Participants increase knowledge, confidence and self esteem.
Dental Ambassadors is an award-winning programme designed for adults and young people with a learning disability which aims to increase knowledge and awareness about oral health. We also encourage participants to share information with others at home, in college, advocacy groups and workplaces.
We are especially proud that this programme is cited as good practice in Government Guidance ‘Oral Care for People with Learning Disabilities.’ We also received the prestigious Probe Award in May 2020 for the Best Charity Initiative [South] in recognition of the impact of the programme.
We have created a range of interactive and engaging resources including games, activity sheets, fact cards and videos which are tailored made for the needs of the organisation and individuals. Participants create an individual portfolio containing information cards, fact sheets, quizzes, experiments, and art activities to build knowledge and understanding in ways which are relevant and meaningful.
“Thank you Well Connected! These sessions have proved so valuable for our students. Your ability in recognising we are all unique and those learning disabilities learners are able to gain the independence, skills and understanding necessary to enable this to happen.”
